Talking to Community Experts
Throughout the duration of this project, we were able to coordinate three separate interviews. Our first interview was with a representative of the private sector, Amanda Rivillas, a consultant at Atlantida Medio Ambiente, and an advocate for Energy Poverty intervention. Previously, she conducted her own research on Energy Poverty in Puerto Real, making her information and guidance essential to our own work. The second interview we conducted was with Silvia Perez, another representative of the private sector, and the Coordinator of Community Transformation for Penta Comunidad. Her work consists of aiding the energy transition, improving energy equity, and even forming renewable energy communities. Her vast experience in the energy field allowed her to inform us greatly throughout our work. Our final interview was with a group consisting of members from the Puerto Real City Council, including Lorena Diaz, a public housing worker, thus representing the public sector. The group consisted of social workers that work hands on to combat the effects of energy poverty, making them very insightful. They were able to reveal the true depth of the issue in addition to existing intervention efforts. Overall, these interviews helped enhance our teams' understanding of Energy Poverty in Puerto Real, and we are very thankful for all of the information provided by the participants!
